Tom P is a print maker who runs Bird Apartment Printing in Easton, Pennsylvania, United States. I have enjoyed the music he makes in such bands as Slingshot Dakota and Ultimate Warriors for a few years now. When I found out he screen printed the artwork for Carly Comando's debut album...

...I thought I may as well give him a message to try and gain a better understanding of how it all came together...

- What inspired you to create the artwork for the CD?
my inspiration came from combining some elements from a series of fine art prints i did and a drawing that i did for Carly's tattoo. It mostly has to do with my love and respect for animals, and how much i dislike the hunting and killing of them.

- How many did you end up making and how long did it take?
i printed a little over a thousand covers. i'm not really sure how long it took... i did three separate batches of covers. i know it took quite a bit of time, though!!!

- Is there a hidden concept behind the artwork?
no, there is no hidden concept... i just like to make art that i think looks cool. oh, there is a hidden visual element in the drawing that i did for Carly, but i'll leave it for people to find.

- Did you have a specific target audience in mind?
just people who love Carly and deer... hahaha!

- Did Carly have any input to the creation of the artwork?
well, she really liked my fine art stuff, and also really liked the drawing for her tattoo. i think that she requested the color pink, but i'm not sure... my favorite color is pink, so i'm not sure if it was her idea or mine. also, the idea of printing the photo of her on the inside cover was my idea... she was against it at first, but i talked her into it.
